at Pelham Bay Golf Course
The World Foundation for Medical Studies in Female Health (WFFH) held its first charity golf tournament on September 10 at the Pelham Bay Golf Course in Pelham Bay Park. Though rain threatened, the day turned out to be beautiful―blue skies and a cool breeze accompanied a great mix of players, all involved in raising money for the foundation’s educational programs.
The tournament’s Diamond Sponsor and WFFH Board Member, Rick Koller of Tauscher Cronacher Professional Engineers, said “Everyone loves to donate to charities, but it’s a win-win when you can enjoy a day on the golf course.”
Team Champion, consisting of Seth Podair, Joe DeMeglio, Chris Reilly and Jay Fiedler, took the first place honor, while two of its members independently took both closest to the pin and the longest drive contests.
Jay Fiedler, former Miami Dolphins Quarterback and Long Island local, attended the tournament as part of Team Champion. Jay received the award for the Closest to the Pin in two shots on hole #6. Also from Team Champion, Seth Podair, took the Longest Drive contest on the 18th hole.
Mid-York Press, a printing and packaging company from Sherburne, New York, took second place in the scramble-format tournament.
